Glen Eira Town Hall Theatrette (part of the Glen Eira Storytelling Festival)
Sunday July 2 at 5pm
Documenting the impoverished but hopeful lives of pre-and post-war migrants and their observations of Australian culture, Yiddish writers newly arrived to Melbourne created a rich literary treasury.
Their short stories, poetry and journal articles created history and influenced generations of younger writers. With music from the era, engaging readers will bring alive the stories of Pinchas Goldhar, Melech Ravitch, Herz Bergner and Yosl Birstein.
Presented in English by the Kadimah Jewish Cultural Centre and National Library.
