Diane was born into a Yiddish speaking family. When she started Sholem Aleichem Kindergarten in Elsternwick, she had to learn English. She graduated Kindergarten and continued on to the Sunday school. She graduated from Sholem Aleichem Sunday school, and then became a teacher there. Whilst completing her teaching degree, Diane did her final teacher training placement at Sholem Aleichem College (SAC). In later years, Diane held many positions at SAC, including teaching and being a member on the Board. Her volunteer work continued with performing in many Kadimah Yiddish productions; as a member of the In One Voice committee, which is co-hosted by the Kadimah; as a member of the Kadimah Board; and as a member of the Kadimah Cultural subcommittee.
Since April 2017, you can find Diane at the Kadimah on a Monday afternoon, leading a Yiddish schmooze group for advanced Yiddish speakers.
