On Sunday 23 February, the Kadimah Jewish Cultural Centre and National Library held an outstanding event entitled Undzer Bialystok / Our Bialystok. Selling out the Kadimah’s own hall, it was moved to Habonim Hall where over 300 people, many of whom had personal connections to Bialystok – parents or grandparents who came from there, were treated to beautiful readings and performances, and a wonderful short film paying homage to the community members who established a life for themselves in Melbourne post Bialystok.

It was a place we had heard of and felt proud to share in the knowledge that our lineage came from there.”
